Release/Deployment resource
Location: Franklin Lakes, NJ
Duration: 6-12 months
· Description Summary: The resource will be responsible for deploying code from Integration to Production utilizing Harvest or UNIX scripts. The resource should have experience working in a fast paced environment and have the ability to quickly catch on and enforce standards as it relates to the SDLC process.
· Skills:
a. Must Have:
i. Working knowledge of source control tools like ClearCase, Harvest, PVCS
ii. Working knowledge of UNIX (HP-UX, Solaris, AIX) and NT systems
iii. UNIX shell scripting
iv. Experience working in medium to large scale shop
b. It is highly desired that the candidate have working knowledge of some of the below:
i. Configuration Management experience
ii. Knowledge of applications like BroadVision, Pega, DataPower, WebSphere
iii. Knowledge of Perl and SQL
iv. Development experience in a web or distributed computing environment using C/C++, Java, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic, etc…;
c. Personal attributes
i. Excellent customer service / developer support skills
ii. Good verbal and written communications
iii. Motivated, self-starter
iv. Flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast pace environment
· Responsibilities
a. Coordinate promotion of product releases through the various development and production environments
b. Use version control software to identify, record and track all application components required for a "build" and impose automated, repeatable procedures to insure consistency across the various environments;
c. Maximize the use of SCM tools to control all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including, but not limited to - source code version/revision management, promotion and build/release management, and issue/change management
d. Manage the Turnover Request and Change Control systems enforcing approval, notification and implementation SOPs for audit compliance
e. Coordinate and participate in planning sessions for Release deployment activities, including the Monthly/Mid-Month release cycles, daily/weekly maintenance, and adhoc/emergency changes
f. Work closely with developers to insure functional enhancements are coordinated and implemented in accordance with a published release schedule
g. Coordinate maintenance/emergency fixes so they are prioritized and deployed in a timely manner
h. Continually look for ways to automate and streamline the release process to improve time-to-market
i. Maintain or troubleshoot deployment scripts, if necessary
j. Monitor and close remedy tickets related to Harvest and deployments
k. Provide Harvest Administration and developer training as necessary
l. Maintain and post SCM SOPs on the Release Management intranet web site
